2007 Street of Dreams
at Quinn’s Crossing, Snohomish, WA
The organizers see the 2007 Seattle Street of Dreams (July 14 to August 17) as a transformation of the event for years to come. The main watchword is “sustainable.” This means somewhat smaller homes on lots which are preserved to a large degree in their natural state. Part of this effort is the requirement for each of the eleven residences to be designed to “Built Green®” specifications.
Built Green is an environmental building program of the Master Builder Association of King and Snohomish counties and other related Washington State agencies. It is a network of builders, architects, developers, contractors, lenders and real estate professionals. The goal is to maintain and improve the quality of life. 
Up to 48 homes will eventually be part of Quinn’s Crossing which covers 115 acres located near Echo Lake Road only a few miles outside Woodinville. Nearly 75 percent of the land will consist of wooded area and opens spaces with trails and native vegetation. Just to the south is the 644-acre Paradise Valley Conservation.
Getting the project of the ground and approved was not easy. Some neighboring home owners appealed the county’s decision to permit the project. The 115 acres are located near the headwaters of Bear Creek which consists of sensitive wetlands. Another issue was the septic plan which calls for individual septic systems for all properties. The county promised to monitor the water quality on an ongoing basis. For more details see this August 2006 Seattle Times article.
With permit hurdles cleared, the builders are anxious to get construction underway.

Among the interior designers selected for the 2007 event are Schoenfeld Interiors, Ethan Allen Home Interiors, Autmn Donavan Design, and Design Utopia.
The 20th Luxury Home & Garden tour will be held July 14-August 17, 2007. Anticipated opening times are 10 am through 9 pm. As in every year since 1984, one of the beneficiaries will be again the Children’s Home Society of Washington. Another partnership to be continued is the support for the Make-a-Wish Foundation®.
As in past years, the 2007 event is expected to be the most popular and highest attended single site luxury home and garden tour in the United States.
