The Home Buying Process Do it right the first time.
Are you about to relocate to the Seattle area? You will be in good company. My clients have moved here from the East Coast, Midwest, California, England, Germany and Singapore. Distance makes clear and timely communications critical at every step of the way. In one instance, my client even asked me to make the final purchase decision. The first time she saw her new home was the day she arrived.
You can count on my experience and empathy when you have to make a new home in an unfamiliar setting. I have lived and worked in four countries (ich spreche Deutsch) and within the United States in Chicago, Cleveland, New York City and North Carolina.
Finding the perfect home requires an understanding of my client’s expectations and lifestyle. One mother asked for a home with clear sightlines from the kitchen to the yard so that she could keep an eye on her children while they played outside. Another client was mainly concerned with easy airport access.
Often the answer to settling in an unfamiliar place is to lease first. Some of my clients have moved here on a temporary basis. Renting is the logical answer, especially if the employer discourages buying. Speaking of employers, many offer relocation packages that mandate using specific real estate companies and lenders. Increasingly, new and existing employees are questioning the value of these relocation packages, wondering if these arrangements are mainly for the benefit of the employer.
Relocation also applies to sellers. They move away and leave a home behind for rent or sale. I have done both for clients whom I have never met. Again, good communications is the key throughout a successful transaction.
Another key is the efficient use of technology. I make all documents available from my domain server which is safer and more reliable than email. The ability to use web-based fax services is another way to be available everywhere at any time.
